Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare. Based in San Diego and reporting to the Manager of Technical Writing, the Technical Writer for Software will be responsible for collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team, including software/instrument engineers and application scientists to produce high-quality documentation in support of Element Biosciences instrument, cloud, and analysis software. Our ideal candidate must have 5 years of experience as a technical writer in a preferable in life sciences, be a motivated self-starter who will take both a hands-on approach to information gathering and content generation for software used in a biological sciences environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Communicate with R&D product developers and attend project status meetings to understand the product(s) under development and the overall schedule and milestones · Communicate with Marketing product managers to identify product and audience requirements for the deliverables · Coordinate with the R&D project manager to prepare the technical publications delivery schedule · Generate new content to meet marketing and technical requirements to produce customer-facing documentation for scientists and consuming developers Work efficiently and accurately in XML-based content management systems, following best practices and internal standards for content reuse. Demonstrate strong domain expertise in modern standards for user guides and manuals, online help, marketing literature, and customer experience. · Other duties as assigned This list highlights major areas of focus and areas of effort, but in a small team and a dynamic company environment, these job responsibilities can expand and flex at management’s request.
REQUIREMENTS: ·Degree in English or equivalent field of study. Degree in biological sciences or software with 5 years experience in technical writing (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered) · Experience with next-generation sequencing technology, highly desirable · Minimum 5 years of relevant software technical writing experience, training, and presentation material in a scientific environment · Experience writing developer documentation, including documentation for quick starts, tutorials, API, and command line · Flexible and proactive with the ability to work in an environment of constant change · Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, open to stretch themselves and review new and innovative ways to translate content. · Highly organized and excellent attention to detail PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · Must be able to lift 15 pounds We are passionate about our mission to develop high performing products to study genomics in an unprecedented flexibility and to understand biology for the improvement of healthcare.
