We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I who will play a pivotal role in supporting technical issues in Instrument Manufacturing to ensure consistent quality and continued production. This is an incredible opportunity for someone who is a self-driven learner, excels at juggling priorities, always leans into a challenge, and is passionate for continuous improvement. We are looking for candidates with a solid background in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering. Experience with integrating electromechanical systems is a must. This role will report to Engineering Manager, Instrument Operations and will be a fully onsite San Diego based role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and address manufacturing issues through root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with Quality Control and Assurance teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Design Engineering, and Production, to ensure seamless integration of new products into the manufacturing process.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing capabilities, enable scalability, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process flowcharts.
  • Training: Provide training and support to production staff to ensure adherence to manufacturing processes and standards.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields preferred
  • Ability to present technical information for audiences ranging from non-technical supporting roles to executive team.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience with a focus on root cause analysis and debugging electromechanical systems required.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA regulations) preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software and manufacturing tools.
  • Proficiency in process optimization, automation, and lean manufacturing principles.

Base Compensation Pay Range: $79,000 - $97,000

In addition to base compensation, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off. 

Please Note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
