Element Biosciences Appoints Global Biopharma R&D Leader Dr. Mikael Dolsten to Board of Directors

Appointment strengthens Element's board as the company continues to advance the future of precision medicine and AI-enabled drug discovery; executive promotions reflect growing maturity of the company

SAN DIEGO, CA (August 18, 2026)Element Biosciences, Inc. today announced that Mikael Dolsten, M.D., Ph.D., has joined its board of directors. Dr. Dolsten brings more than 35 years of leadership in biomedical research and global healthcare to Element’s board, most recently serving as chief scientific officer and president of Worldwide Research, Development and Medical at Pfizer. During more than 16 years at Pfizer, Dr. Dolsten helped advance approximately 40 medicines and vaccines to approval.

Dr. Dolsten has authored more than 160 scientific publications, is an elected member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and has advised governments and international organizations on public health and biomedical innovation.

As Element advances this growth trajectory, the company has also promoted two key leaders to further strengthen its executive team. Jeff Labbadia has been named chief supply chain officer, recognizing his leadership in building the company’s integrated global supply chain, sponsoring its successful ISO 13485 certification, and supporting development of the forthcoming AVITI Dx™ platform.

Element co-founder Matt Kellinger has been promoted to senior vice president, product strategy. In this role, he will help connect R&D innovation more directly with commercial execution and ensure that customer needs remain central to Element’s product strategy and R&D priorities.
