What types of cells can I run with Teton™ CytoProfiling Kits? | Element Biosciences

Written by Element Biosciences | Jul 9, 2025 7:00:00 AM

A variety of cell types can be run using Teton™. This knowledgebase article will be updated regularly as additional cell types are tested and validated. For foundational guidance on working with adherent and suspension cells, please refer to the Teton User Guide.

Additional articles are available to support users working specifically with adherent, suspension, or co-cultured cell types.

To further support sample preparation, the Teton Onboard Cell Paint Imaging Kit or Teton Cell Paint Probe Kit allow for the evaluation of sample quality, cell growth, and morphology—helping users refine their culture conditions and experimental variables. If you’re also interested in optimizing a custom protein panel and/or visualizing control protein probes, we recommend using the Teton Custom Antibody Screening Kit to evaluate sample quality, cell growth, morphology and polony counts within segmented cells.

We note the surface coatings for cell types ran in-house and observe that cells may change morphology with different coatings. For more information on optimizing your sample prep prior to a Teton run, please consult the Teton Optimization & Screening User Guide and the Teton Cell Culture Optimization Tech Note.

Things to avoid in your final sample prep

  • When working with gelatin-based custom coatings (eg gelatin, matrigel), ensure that you are not over-incubating. Over-incubating gelatin coatings can result in variable thickness and can lead to focus issues during the Teton run.
  • If purifying samples using magnetic beads, ensure that no magnetic beads transfer to the slide kit. The magnetic beads may dislodge during the course of the run and lead to fluidics concerns.

Please reach out to us if you are working with cells with endogenous fluorophores.
