We are seeking a high-level technical lead Staff Scientist for biochemistry development of enzymatic reagents for our NGS platform.  You will plan, create framework, chart timelines, budget capital equipment purchases, build a team to execute development projects around characterization, optimization through DOE/scientific acumen, and delivery of robust reagents to Ops & Mfg. You will design assays and strategies to improve performance, troubleshoot problems, discover novel solutions, support /invent QC framework for Ops&Mfg.  Success in this position requires communicating across all levels in the organization and requires strong relationships that are built on a foundation of respect, integrity, cooperation, teamwork, and professionalism.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Build a team to execute development projects around characterization, optimization through DOE/scientific acumen, and delivery of robust reagents to Operations and Manufacturing
  • Support and invent QC framework for Operations and Manufacturing
  • Design assays and strategies to improve performance
  • Plan, create framework, and chart timelines for projects
  • Budget capital equipment purchases
  • Troubleshoot problems and discover novel solutions

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Strong knowledge in protein stability   
  • Ability to develop surrogate assays predictive of sequencing reagent performance
  • Ability to deliver required reagent performance and stability through understanding of biochemical and biophysical principals/fundamentals

Education and Experience

  • Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 7 years industry-related experience
  • Strong scientific background in biochemistry of DNA/RNA processing enzymes (polymerases a must, others a plus) and nucleic acids
  • Strong experience with analytical, biophysical, and biochemical tools and assays
  • Proven track record of in both early and late stages development in commercialization of enzymatic biochemistry reagents and in building teams
