We are seeking a Staff Fluidics engineer to design, develop, and test complex micro/milli fluidics systems. This is a key role within our fluidics group requiring an experienced technical expert who can collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, systems engineers and cross-functional teammates from wet chemistry, software, bioinformatics, and quality assurance functions.

Essential Functions and Responsiblities

  • Take ownership on the innovation of new technologies and products encompassing (but not limited to) areas of micro/milli fluidics, fluid control, microfabrication, and systems engineering
  • Contribute to the company’s product development roadmap by exploring new design concepts and technologies. Keep up to date with the latest micro/milli fluidics technologies
  • Translate fluidic system requirements to sub-system and component level design
  • Develop analytical tools and test protocols to aid in the successful development of robust fluidics hardware
  • Transfer fluidic systems and modules from R&D to production
  • Lead troubleshooting investigations into development and product issues
  • Independent analysis and reporting of data to a greater audience (technical and non-technical alike). Use statistical tools to make data driven decisions
  • Serve as a fluidics subject matter expert and train junior fluidics engineers
  • Work with members in cross functional groups (biochemistry, chemistry, systems integration, optics, mechanical engineering, etc)  

Education and Experience

  • MS + 8 years of relevant industry experience, or PhD + 6 years. A degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biophysics, or a related field with emphasis on fluidics is preferred
  • Industry experience is a must
  • Direct experience launching micro/milli fluidic products in the biotechnology industry
  • Demonstrated ability to relate theoretical fundamentals to experimental data and vice versa
  • Detailed experimentalist with the curiosity to dig deeper without losing sight of project priorities
  • Experience with microscopy, optical systems, and image analysis
  • Experience with simulation tools (COMSOL, other FEM techniques)
  • Experience with basic programming software (Python, C++, Matlab)
