Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare. The successful candidate will be part of a laboratory team working production of a variety of NGS library preps for sequencing. This technical position requires candidates to perform molecular biology laboratory work and recording result. Experience in NGS workflow and sequencing library generation and associated skills is preferred. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Follow established NGS protocols in the laboratory. · Generate DNA/RNA Sequencing libraries and associated QC metrics. · Participate in maintaining inventory and ordering lab supplies and reagents. · Maintain, troubleshoot, and perform day-to-day work on library preparation equipment. · Maintain detailed daily records in a well-kept lab notebook, work carefully to control and optimize protocols. ·Use liquid handling equipment to perform sequencing library preparations. ·Characterize sequencing libraries using qubit, qPCR, and Agilent Bioanalyzer/TapeStation, etc. ·Maintain sample records and tracking data. ·Monitor stock levels of sequencing supplies and reagents and reorder stock as needed. ·  Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES: ·  Knowledge of molecular biology equipment and procedures (including RNA and DNA preparation, RNA and DNA quantification, hybridization, PCR, quantitative PCR). ·  Experience ensuring and maintaining integrity and quality of the laboratory in the areas of sample processing, equipment maintenance and SOPs. ·  Highly organized and extremely detail oriented. · Proven organizational and time management skills to successfully set priorities, meet established deadlines, multi-task projects, adjust to changing priorities and recognize new problems. · Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. ·  Skills utilizing sound judgment, tact and a recognition of situations requiring confidentiality. ·  Experience with plate-based robotic automation platforms for nucleic acid isolation, QC, library preparation is highly desired but not required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: ·  Minimum 2 years of experience with molecular biology equipment and related protocols (including RNA and ·  DNA preparation, RNA and DNA quantification, hybridization and PCR) ·  Bachelor’s degree with 1-4 years of experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or Genetics or related discipline (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered). PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ·       Must be able to lift 15 pounds
