Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare. The  Sequencing Biochemistry R&D group is seeking an Associate Scientist to support the development and commercialization of novel high-quality and robust sequencing reagents.  Ideal candidates will have a background in reagent development with 1-2 years of experience in a biotechnology environment   Essential Functions and Responsibilities: ·        Strong attention to detail and accurate, high-quality record keeping ·        Performing sequencing reagent formulation and optimization studies ·        Executing sequencing and microscopy experiments of moderate scope and complexity ·        Performing data analysis and giving occasional presentations to small groups ·        Supporting assay development and reagent characterization (e.g. fluorometric assays, electrophoresis, chromatography, biophysical tools) Education and experience: Minimum Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology or related discipline with 2+ years experience is an individual contributor in a biotechnology setting (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered) Desired Skills: ·        Fast learner and curious by nature ·        Foundational knowledge and experience with protein and nucleic acid biochemistry, NGS, enzymology, polymer science and surface chemistry ·        Familiarity with and confidence in operating complex laboratory systems (e.g. DNA sequencers, flow cytometers, liquid handlers, fluorescence microscopes) ·        Comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment, handling ambiguity and adapting to changing priorities ·        Good interpersonal skills, capable of working cross-functionally ·        Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma principles and statistical analysis ·        Familiarity with statistical software tools and basic coding is a plus (e.g. JMP, Minitab, Python, R, Matlab)
