The EMEA Field Application Scientist Manager will Lead/manage Field Application Scientists (FAS) in achieving both short-term and long-term company goals and the placement and development of designated ‘strategically-important’ products, services, and capabilities.

  • Analyze trends and key application support issues that impact business results—drive resolution. Developing and continuously adjusting a detailed plan that provides the sales team with the strategy and tactics to lead them to success
  • Provide leadership and direction for assigned Field Application Scientists (FASs) to consistently meet or exceed performance objectives
  • Establish and maintain through specific training and education opportunities a competent workforce dedicated to providing a high level of application support
  • Foster leadership development within the FAS team to provide a solid base on which to build a world class application support organization that supports sales efforts and targets
  • Create and implement metrics for FAS organization
  • Track and report FAS KPI's
  • Train and coach all FASs in knowledge and skills required for continuous improvement
  • Make routine field visits with FASs and customers as required
  • Provide technical support to customers, sales and distributors (via phone, email, customer visits)
  • Participate in pre-sales conversations to contribute to revenue growth through instrument pre-sales and consumable pull through
  • Leverage strong structured problem-solving skills to identify and resolve customer need
  • Analyze utilization and other productivity reports to optimize individual and team performance
  • Liaison between R&D and FASs Team to ensure product changes are communicated to the team
  • Provide voice of customer to internal teams on product performance, implementation, and development areas, identify training and documentation gaps.
  • Giving feedback to inside personnel on changes in the marketplace and competitive information.
  • Provide input on new product ideas; participate in market assessments for proposed products
  • Accountable for expenses against budget
  • Responsible for in-field resource utilization
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained
  • Experience with the use of Salesforce and demonstrated account management skills
  • Assisting with hiring, training, deployment and retaining of new FAS personnel


  • Strong leadership skills and strategic thinking
  • Must have a proven track record in providing high level of FAS support and managing a budget (P&L)
  • Broad knowledge and practical experience in project management, personnel development, and leadership
  • Broad knowledge of FAS practice and principles
  • Must be adept at organizing, analyzing, and manipulating data into cohesive reports and presentations
  • Must be able to present to leadership in a clear and concise manner and articulate ideas in a proper format
  • Background in continuous improvement, process efficiencies and application support operations preferred
  • English speaking and second language is preferable.


  • Minimal requirement is a Bachelors or Associates degree in life sciences, engineering or business--advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in an application support role with at least 5 years of leadership management experience supervising a FAS team 
  • Based anywhere in the region.


  • Up to 50% travel required.
