The Role

We are looking for a strong Director of Commercial Operations to oversee the overall productivity and effectiveness of the Global Commercial functions across Field and Inside Sales, Application Support, Service and Marketing.  Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the DCO is a key member of the Commercial Leadership team and works closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop strategies to ensure the appropriate objectives and priorities are enabled across our global Commercial org. Responsibilities:

  • You will manage all the support functions essential to sales force productivity, customer success and marketing effectiveness including planning, reporting, quota setting, management, sales and support program implementation, compensation design and execution, customer survey, and marketing and campaign analytics
  • You will coordinate sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes used within the sales organization and proactively monitor and strive to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in the sales organization’s planning efforts.
  • You will support the equitable assignment of sales force quotas and ensures quotas are optimally allocated to all sales channels and resources.
  • You will work closely with sales leadership to inspect sales process quality and prioritize opportunities for improvement and assist sales management in understanding process bottlenecks and inconsistencies.
  • You will monitor the accuracy and efficient distribution of sales reports and other intelligence essential to the sales organization and recommend revisions to existing reports.
  • You will perform data modeling and ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision making on marketing campaigns/programs/projects.
  • You will develop and execute customer engagement mechanisms including surveys, customer satisfaction and sentiment metrics, promotor indices.
  • You will implement enabling technologies, including CRM and monitor the assigned sales organization’s compliance with required standards for maintaining CRM data.
  • You will work closely with sales management to optimize the effectiveness of technology investments.
  • You will own the development and administration of sales, support, and service engineer incentive compensation programs.
  • You will work with Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources to execute commercial team incentive compensation administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a life science or business-related field required
  • Graduate degree in a life science or business-related field may be advantageous
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a sales operations position in the Life Science tools market
  • Start-up or early-stage company experience ideal
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally across regions and across departments
