We are seeking a Senior Fluidics Engineer to work on the development of complex fluidic systems that will translate into novel and robust products.  This role requires a motivated engineer who can collaborate closely with mechanical, optics, and systems engineers, along with cross-functional teammates from biochemistry, surface chemistry, software, bioinformatics, and quality assurance functions

Essential functions and responsibilities

  • Contribute to the company’s exciting product portfolio by exploring new design concepts and technologies
  • Design novel micro-fluidic consumable technologies that will redefine sequencing and other forms of biological analysis
  • Develop analytical tools and test protocols to aid in the successful development of robust fluidics hardware
  • Plan and execute on experiments as part of a greater team. Analyze data and report results to a greater audience (technical and non-technical alike)
  • Contribute significantly in the lab – testing and performing experiments to generate high quality data to inform data-driven decisions
  • Work closely with members in cross functional groups to troubleshoot interdisciplinary challenges to arrive at robust product solutions
  • Collaborate with external vendors to accomplish technical, quality, and schedule deliverables

Education and Experience

  • MS/PhD in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biophysics, or a related field with emphasis on fluidics
  • Demonstrated ability to relate mass transport theoretical fundamentals to experimental data and vice versa
  • Analytical and systematic approach to design, test, and troubleshooting, with a high attention to detail
  • Detailed experimentalist with the curiosity to dig deeper without losing sight of project priorities
  • Experience with microscopy, optical systems, and image analysis
  • Experience with simulation tools (COMSOL, other FEM techniques)
  • Experience with basic programming software (Python, C++, Matlab)
